The Ideology of Pakistan
The ideology of Pakistan is based on the Two Nation Theory, which states that Muslims and Hindus are two separate nations with their own religion, culture and way of life, and therefore Muslims needed a separate homeland.
Key Milestones
- 1906: formation of the All India Muslim League.
- 1930: Allama Iqbal presented the idea of a separate Muslim state in his Allahabad Address.
- 1940: the Lahore Resolution (Pakistan Resolution) demanded independent states for Muslims.
- 14 August 1947: Pakistan came into being.
Founding Leaders
Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah led the movement and became the first Governor-General, while Allama Iqbal is remembered as the thinker who gave the idea of Pakistan.
