Heat and Temperature

Difference Between Heat and Temperature

Heat is a form of energy that flows from a hot object to a cold one. Temperature measures how hot or cold something is.

How Heat Travels

  • Conduction: through solids, for example a metal spoon getting hot.
  • Convection: through liquids and gases by moving currents.
  • Radiation: through empty space, for example heat from the Sun.

Key Points

Heat always moves from higher temperature to lower temperature.
