Ratio

A ratio compares two quantities, for example 2 to 3, written as 2:3.

Proportion

A proportion states that two ratios are equal, for example 2:3 equals 4:6.

Percentage

A percentage is a number out of one hundred. To find a percentage, divide the part by the whole and multiply by 100.

Example

If 20 out of 50 students passed, the pass percentage is (20 divided by 50) times 100, which equals 40 percent.
